Afterfund Secures Pre-Seed Funding to Bring Back a Tradition of Perpetual Giving

Illinois--Fintech startup Afterfund, Inc. today announced the successful close of its pre-seed financing round. Through the funding, Afterfund will be better able to reach nonprofits seeking sustainable funding for causes and donors who want to make continuous and high-impact change in the world.

Following 20% month-over-month growth since Q2 2023, a fundraising effort in late 2024 filled out Afterfund’s pre-seed round with a diverse group of individual investors from around the world.

“The demand from donors and nonprofits has been overwhelming. It became clear that Afterfund needed to expand our operations to help a proactive, global community of humanitarians,” said Omar Yunus, cofounder of Afterfund, speaking from Distillery Labs, in Peoria, IL where Afterfund joined the gBeta accelerator program.

Omar has spent his career in ethical finance, managing and creating ethical investment funds of hundreds of millions, as well as creating an index on a European stock exchange. He met his co-founder Dzanan Ganic nearly 10 years ago, when Dzanan was building the first of two successful Millennial-focused fintech startups. Inspired by a historical golden age of the sciences and arts, Dzanan saw entrepreneurship as a duty towards his community.

“We both previously worked in the finance industry and saw that investing works. People use it for retirement, people use it to get rich, and we wondered, ‘Why not use it to do more good in the world?’ We’ve been inspired by historical examples where people of different religions worked together to alleviate poverty. There’s no reason that can’t happen again, today,” Dzanan said.
